Kiel Region - Coastal Risks
During the first phase of the project we set up a full hydrodynamic model (Telemac2D) and used the best available data to model a 200-year storm surge event under different sea-level rise scenarios for the wider region of Kiel. In the second phase of the project we explore, in co-operation with local expert stakeholders, a range of plausible adaptation scenarios that involve options such as dikes or managed realignment. Further, we monitor coastal cliffs in the regions of Schilksee and Stohl to monitor responses to extreme events and/or long-term stressors.
