Leigh joined the CRSLR Research Group in 2024 but has held a position within the group as a guest researcher since 2017. His background is in civil engineering (BE, University of Western Australia) before he transitioned to research for his Masters which he completed in the field of physical oceanography (MPhil, University of Western Australia). Currently, Leigh is in the final stages of his PhD at Kiel University where he has investigated extreme sea levels along the German Baltic Sea coast. His research has focussed on numerical and statistical techniques to enhance available extreme sea level information for use in coastal flood risk assessments.
