Saskia studied Geography (B.Sc.) and Environmental Geography and Management (M.Sc.) at Kiel University, specializing in nature conservation, landscape planning, coastal systems, and climate change. Her Bachelor's thesis focused on evaluating Ecosystem-based Adaptation to make its success measurable, comparable, and more reproducible. For her Master's thesis, she explored changes in coastal flood characteristics due to sea level rise using hydrodynamic modelling on the Fischland-Darß-Zingst Peninsula in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany.

Saskia joined the Coastal Risk and Sea Level Rise group as a student assistant in December 2022 and transitioned to a doctoral researcher in January 2024. Her Ph.D. research focuses on coastal flood characteristics and evaluating adaptation measures, like managed realignment, using Telemac2D hydrodynamic modelling on the Baltic Sea coast.
